The cost of living is putting pressure on household budgets. Here are some NSW Government programs, savings and practical support that may help you reduce everyday costs.

 

Transport

Toll Relief

  • The weekly toll cap has been reduced from $60 to $50 for the next 12 months.
  • Toll administration fees are being scrapped, saving at least $10 per notice.

$100 Off Vehicle Registration

  • From 1 September, eligible motorists will automatically save $100 on registration. Motorcycle owners will save $80. Find out more HERE.

Opal Fares

  • Opal fares are being frozen, helping keep public transport costs down.

Energy & Household Bills

Home Energy Saver Program

  • Interest-free loans of up to $15,000 and discounts of up to $4,000 for eligible energy-saving home upgrades.
  • Covers upgrades including solar, batteries, insulation, air conditioning and switchboards.

Energy Made Easy

  • Check whether you could be paying less for electricity or gas with the free Energy Made Easy website to compare energy plans and find a better deal in just a few minutes HERE.

Washing Machine Exchange Program

  • Eligible households can replace an old top-loader with a new energy and water-efficient front-loader for $250.
  • Households can save an average of $300 a year on water, electricity and detergent. Check your eligibility HERE.

Health

Free ADHD Consultations

  • From early 2027, people aged 6 and over will be able to access free ADHD consultations with participating GPs.
  • This could save families up to $1,500 in assessment costs. Find out more HERE.

Support for Renters

  • Smart Rental Bonds will allow you to transfer your existing bond to a new rental property, instead of paying another bond upfront. For more information click HERE.
  • If you’re eligible, you can pay your rent through Centrepay, and your landlord must offer this option if you ask. For more information click HERE.

  • Find support with food and daily essentials, plus tips to help reduce your grocery costs HERE.

Families, seniors and people with disabilities
