Tribute to Janice Harrington

05 August 2026

I pay tribute to Janice Harrington, who recently passed. Her life was defined by faith, service and dedication to the Liverpool community. A devoted Anglican, she dedicated more than 30 years to teaching scripture at local schools and churches, served as a parish councillor for 40 years, taught Sunday school for 23 years and volunteered her time at the Prestons community hall. She was also a steadfast supporter of her husband, former alderman, mayor and councillor Colin Harrington, attending community and civic events throughout his 17 years of public service and well beyond that in his retirement. As an indication of that service, I last saw Janice at the Catherine Field RFS trivia night in June, where the Harrington family proudly took out the winning prize. It was a fitting reminder of the warmth, enthusiasm and sense of community that she brought to every occasion. I extend my sincere condolences to her family and church community. Her contribution will be long remembered. May she rest in peace.
