Tet Festival 2026

18 March 2026

The Tết Festival at Fairfield Showground is always lively, and this year was no different. On 21 February, I had the pleasure of joining the Premier and a number of my Federal and State colleagues in the celebrations as the community came together to welcome the Year of the Horse. Tết is the most important celebration in the Vietnamese cultural calendar. For Vietnamese-Australians, it is a time to honour heritage, reflect on the year past and welcome new beginnings with family, friends and community. Festivals like this allow traditions to be shared proudly across generations while also inviting the wider community to experience and appreciate Vietnamese culture. The atmosphere was full of colour and energy, with families enjoying delicious Vietnamese cuisine, carnival rides, cultural performances and the excitement of traditional lion dancing. Events like the Tết Festival highlight the richness of coming together to build understanding, friendship and shared celebration. My sincere thanks to Peter Thang Ha and the Vietnamese Community in NSW for hosting such a wonderful festival. Chúc mừng năm mới!
