St Rafqa Maronite Church in Austral is a pillar of the Maronite community in my electorate. I have had the pleasure of visiting the church on many occasions and each time I do, I am met with open arms and a warm welcome from the congregation. I am always moved by the beautiful choir. I highlight two recent visits to St Rafqa that highlight the church's commitment to community. On 13 April, I had the pleasure of attending Palm Sunday mass at the church. Last Sunday, I attended the Divine Liturgy at the church with visiting Lebanese MP, the Hon. Ghassan Atallah. Beyond its spiritual mission, the church is deeply involved in initiatives that uplift the community. Its outreach includes feeding the homeless in Liverpool, which runs year-round, and annual Christmas gift appeals that bring joy to many. The church also partners with charitable organisations like Yala4LB to extend its reach and impact beyond our shores. I sincerely thank Father Sarkis, Father Maroon and the entire St Rafqa congregation for the vital role it plays in our community, providing a space where the Maronite community can come together.
