On 21 March I had the immense privilege of joining my local Maronite Catholic community at St Rafqa church in Austral to mark the feast day of St Rafqa. It was a deeply significant occasion for the parish and many families across the region. This year's celebration holds special meaning as it commemorates the twenty-fifth year since St Rafqa was canonised. Her life of faith, sacrifice and devotion continues to resonate strongly, particularly as a patron saint of the sick and those enduring hardship. Her story is one of resilience and unwavering belief, offering comfort and inspiration to many. The mass led by His Excellency Bishop Antoine‑Charbel Tarabay brought the community together in prayer and reflection, followed by a gathering that strengthened bonds of fellowship and shared faith. Moments like that bring people together in a very meaningful way. It was a pleasure to be there. My sincere thanks to Father Joe Maroon and the clergy at St Rafqa.
