I warmly congratulate Reverand Lenard (Youhanna) Ina on his ordination as chorbishop of the Syriac Catholic Church, marked on 11 April in St Johns Park. He was elevated with the title of monsignor and presented with the cross and the ring. This occasion reflects a significant step in his ongoing ministry in the church, which is in my area of south-west Sydney. Reverand Lenard was ordained as a priest in Iraq in 2010. He has faithfully continued his service since moving to Sydney in 2015, where he now ministers to more than 700 families, including at weekly services at St Anthonys in Austral. This moment stands as both a personal achievement and a meaningful milestone for the broader Syriac Catholic community. It is a time of shared pride and reflection on his years of dedicated service. I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes. May his leadership continue to be guided by faith, humility and compassion.
