I had a great time visiting the Lakemba Ramadan Night Market with colleagues Charishma Kaliyanda, Marjorie O'Neill, Jihad Dib, Kylie Wilkinson, Anoulack Chanthivong, Sophie Cotsis and the Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Bilal El-Hayek. The streets were alive with energy, lined with incredible food stalls and the unmistakable aromas of dishes being freshly prepared. It's the kind of place where every corner offers something tempting, and you're encouraged to sample a little bit of everything. We certainly tried to. During the holy month of Ramadan, markets like this play an important role for the Muslim community, offering a welcoming space for families and friends to gather and break their fast after sunset with a wide range of delicious foods. What makes the Lakemba Night Market especially great is how it brings together people from all backgrounds. Locals and visitors alike come to experience the food, culture and lively atmosphere, creating a fantastic cross-cultural celebration. If you haven't visited yet, it's well worth the trip.
