Kenya Community NSW Awards

06 May 2026

Jambo! On 28 March, I had the pleasure of attending the Kenya Community NSW Dinner and Awards in Fairfield Heights, where nearly 600 members of the Kenyan community came together for an evening that was as meaningful as it was vibrant. This event was a celebration of identity, connection, and shared pride. I have to say, I had the best time being pulled into the traditional dances, and from now on, that might just be the only acceptable way to invite me on stage. Through music, dance and storytelling, the richness of Kenyan culture came alive. The evening also recognised the significant contributions of the Kenyan diaspora across sectors such as healthcare, education, and public service, reinforcing a legacy of opportunity and optimism. My sincere thanks to President Matthew Gitau, and the entire team. I commend Kenya Community NSW for bringing people together in such a purposeful way and for showcasing the strength, spirit, and future of their community.
