Bula Vinaka. It was a true honour to join my colleagues the member for Liverpool and Anne Stanley in celebrating the fifty-fifth anniversary of Fijian independence in the heart of Liverpool, and to be joined in our local community by the Prime Minister of Fiji, the Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka. Hosted by Sashi Lal and the amazing team at the Multicultural Association of Asia and Pacific, this year's Fiji Day brought together a lively display of culture, community spirit and shared pride. Woodward Park came alive with traditional music, dance, food and, of course, kava, which I admittedly enjoyed a few cups of. It created a joyful atmosphere that reflected the strength and unity of the Fijian Australian community. I thank the organisers, performers, stallholders and everyone else who made the event so special. I look forward to next year's celebration of culture, unity and shared identity.
