I want to acknowledge an incredible achievement by two outstanding Year 10 students from my electorate - Sophia and Samantha, from William Carey Christian School in Prestons, who were national winners in the Dolphin Tank 2025 Student Challenge. This friendly and forward‑thinking competition asked young Australians in a Shark-Tank like style to pitch how artificial intelligence could help solve a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. Over 100 entries were submitted nationwide, and Sophia and Samantha's project, Furry Friends and Wildlife, stood out for its creativity and impact. The challenge is part of Day of AI, a global education initiative helping students understand how artificial intelligence is shaping their world. Originally developed by MIT, the program supports Australian teachers with hands-on, engaging lessons that build real-world digital skills. Their success is a testament to the intelligence of young minds, and their unique ability to tackle the big challenges facing our world.
