I acknowledge the many celebrations of the Dashain festival that took place across Leppington over the past few weeks. I particularly acknowledge the celebration hosted by the Leppington Gurkhas Recreational Club. Dashain is a special time for the Nepalese community, many of whom reside in Leppington, and marks the triumph of good over evil and the strength of family unity. The celebration that the Leppington Gurkhas held showed how the club brings people together, not just through sport but also through cultural events. The day was filled with colour, music and laughter, plenty of traditional food, dance performances and entertainment for the kids, including the always popular face painting. It was also wonderful to see local businesses and sponsors showing their support. That reflects the strong sense of pride and community spirit that the club fosters. I commend all the organisers, players, volunteers and sponsors.
