On 25 February, I had the pleasure of attending the Blooming Together Interfaith Iftar Dinner at the Lao Buddhist Society in Edensor Park. The evening was jointly hosted by the Buddhist Council of NSW, Affinity Intercultural Foundation and the Lao Buddhist Society, bringing people of different faiths and cultural backgrounds together in a spirit of understanding and respect. Held during Ramadan, the gathering provided an opportunity to share in the meaningful tradition of breaking the fast, while reflecting on the values that unite communities. It was a thoughtful and welcoming space where people from different traditions could connect through dialogue, compassion and mutual appreciation. Events like this carry deep cultural and social significance. They create opportunities for communities to learn from one another, build friendships and strengthen harmony across faiths. In a diverse society, moments like these remind us that peace, kindness and respect are shared principles that transcend cultural or religious differences. My sincere thanks to the three organisations and all involved for bringing this meaningful event together.
