I was pleased to attend the Assyrian New Year Festival 6776, one of the world's oldest continuing traditions on the 29 March of 2026 at Fairfield Showground. I was joined by multiple fellow Labor colleagues, alongside the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, signifying it as one of NSW's largest and most important multicultural events. This year, over 9000 people attended with 61 stalls present, creating an environment featuring a range of food and retail opportunities. Executed gorgeously, this event's visual identity and focus, surrounded themes of renewal, growth and iconic symbols of restoration. Amongst the ceremony, were cultural performances and presentations which brought the community together. I would like to thank the Assyrian National Council Australia, alongside its president, Hermiz Shahen, for both the invite and the tireless effort placed within a celebration which continues to preserve and promote the values of the Assyrian people.
