It is with great sadness that I announce to the House that Amicis Pizzeria Ristorante in Austral will be closing its doors in the coming weeks. In mid-August it will serve its last meal after serving many families in my community over many years. It is one of those classic Italian restaurants where, as soon as one walks in the door, they smell the oven and the pizzas cooking. It takes you back. It is a nostalgic restaurant. I am sure that many people in my community and beyond will miss it when it closes its doors. To match that nostalgic smell, behind the counter there is South Sydney memorabilia, which makes it just as welcoming for me as a proud Rabbitohs fan. For many in our community, it is more than a restaurant; it is a place where people have celebrated birthdays and other occasions. I wish Mario, Marco and the entire Amicis family the very best for the future.
