I had the privilege of being warmly welcomed by the Aydogan family for a home Iftar dinner in Prestons on 8 March, as part of the Affinity Ramadan Home Iftar program. I was very graciously hosted by Ismail and Fatma, who opened their home and shared a truly memorable evening. During the holy month of Ramadan, Iftar as the breaking of the fast at sunset, is a deeply meaningful moment for Muslim families. Experiencing this tradition in a family home made the evening even more special. It was filled with generous hospitality, thoughtful conversation and a genuine sense of connection. Gatherings like this reflect the true spirit of Ramadan: reflection, kindness and bringing people together. Around the dinner table, people from different backgrounds and faiths can share stories, learn from one another and experience the warmth of community. I am most grateful to the Aydogan family for their care and preparations. I also thank Ahmet and the Affinity Intercultural Foundation for organising this meaningful cultural exchange.
